Construction and Operational Design

KB pumps are constructed using a combination of cast iron, ductile iron, and high-chrome iron components. The impeller, wear plate, and agitator are made from abrasion-resistant hi-chrome material, which significantly reduces wear in slurry applications.

The pump is equipped with a double mechanical seal system. The lower seal uses silicon carbide faces for durability in abrasive conditions, while the upper seal utilizes carbon/ceramic faces. A heavy-duty lip seal provides additional protection against fluid intrusion.

Each unit is powered by a high-speed 2-pole motor operating at approximately 3450 RPM. Class H insulation ensures the motor can withstand demanding thermal conditions, while built-in thermal and amperage protection safeguards against overheating.

A cooling jacket circulates pumped liquid around the motor housing, maintaining proper operating temperatures during continuous duty operation.
