The SK Series is designed to provide reliable performance in solids-laden wastewater applications where clogging is a concern. The integrated shredding system allows the pump to process difficult solids by tearing and breaking them apart before they pass through the hydraulic components. This approach reduces the likelihood of blockages and improves overall system reliability in demanding environments.

Construction and Materials

The SK Series features a cast iron volute and hydraulic components designed for durability and wear resistance. The motor housing is constructed from 304 stainless steel to resist corrosion. The shredding system incorporates a tungsten carbide cutting element and a hardened, high chrome suction plate to withstand abrasion and maintain cutting performance over time. Dual mechanical seals operating in an oil chamber provide reliable sealing and extended service life.

Hydraulic and Pump Design

The pump utilizes a non-clog shredding impeller design that actively processes solids before discharge. This design allows the pump to handle materials that would typically cause clogging in standard solids-handling pumps. Depending on model size, the pumps are capable of passing solids up to approximately 3.5 inches. The side discharge configuration supports installation in lift stations and guide rail systems, as well as portable applications.

Motor and Operational Design

The SK Series is available with both high-speed two-pole motors operating at approximately 3450 RPM and lower-speed four-pole motors operating at approximately 1750 RPM for higher capacity models. Motors are protected by embedded thermal and amperage overload protection. Insulation ratings vary by size, with smaller units typically Class F and larger units utilizing Class H insulation for increased thermal durability. Seal Minder® moisture detection provides early warning of seal failure.

Model Variations

The SK Series includes a wide range of models to address different operating requirements. Smaller models such as the SK08C and SK15C provide compact solutions for light industrial and commercial applications. Mid-range models such as the SK22C and SK37C offer increased flow capacity, while larger units including the SK55C, SK75C, SK110C, and SK150C provide high-capacity performance for demanding municipal and industrial systems. Single-phase models such as the SK1500C are available for applications requiring simpler power configurations.
