Overview

The Summit 2196LF is the low‑flow, high‑head member of the ANSI B73.1 family. It is engineered for applications where standard ANSI hydraulics become unstable at reduced capacities. The LF uses a radial‑vane impeller and modified casing geometry to maintain smooth operation, extended seal life, and predictable performance at low flows.

Hydraulics

The 2196LF covers flows from 5 to 500 GPM with heads up to 700 ft. Its narrow hydraulic passages and radial‑vane impeller create a steep, stable curve that prevents surging and recirculation. This makes the LF ideal for metering support, batch chemical processes, and recirculation loops.

Materials

Available in Ductile Iron, 316 Stainless Steel, CD4MCu, Alloy‑20, and Hastelloy C. Sleeve options include standard 316 stainless or NCB/HMC hard‑coated sleeves. All materials align with ANSI B73.1 requirements and match Goulds 3196LF compatibility.

Mechanical Design

The LF shares the same core architecture as the 2196: confined casing gasket, integral foot support, self‑venting casing, and back‑pull‑out rotating assembly. The radial‑vane impeller includes balance holes for axial load control, and external axial adjustment maintains performance as clearances change.

Power Ends

STO, MTO, and LTO frames cover the LF hydraulic range. Power ends include SKF bearings, labyrinth isolators, magnetic drain plug, enlarged oil reservoir, and sight glass. All LF power ends interchange with 2196 and 2196R units, as well as Goulds 3196LF and PumpWorks PWA‑LF equivalents. The Forever Frame™ stainless power end is available for corrosive environments.

Serviceability

The LF uses the same back‑pull‑out design as the 2196, allowing complete removal of the rotating assembly without disturbing piping. Shaft kits and power ends are shared across the series.

Applications

Low‑flow chemical transfer, high‑head circulation, reactor feed, sampling loops, and seal‑sensitive services where hydraulic stability is critical.
