The KZNR Series enhances the standard KZN platform with advanced hardening techniques to provide superior abrasion resistance. The hardened volute construction significantly extends wear life in harsh conditions, reducing maintenance frequency and improving overall reliability.

Combined with high chrome wear components and an integrated agitator, the pumps maintain strong hydraulic performance even in dense slurry applications.

Construction and Operational Design

KZNR pumps are constructed using Class 30 ductile iron with a specialized hardened volute that reaches approximately 71 Rockwell C hardness. This hardened interior surface dramatically improves resistance to wear from abrasive particles.

The impeller, wear plate, and agitator are manufactured from high chrome iron, delivering excellent abrasion resistance across all major wear surfaces.

A semi-open impeller design allows the pump to pass solids efficiently while minimizing clogging in high-density slurry applications.

Seal and Protection System

The KZNR Series features a dual mechanical seal system with silicon carbide faces, housed in an oil-filled chamber for cooling and lubrication. This configuration provides long-lasting sealing performance in abrasive service.

Motor protection includes built-in thermal sensors and overload protection. The optional Seal Minder® system monitors moisture intrusion, allowing early detection of seal failure.
