Finish Thompson GP Series Sealed Plastic Centrifugal Pumps
Overview
The Finish Thompson GP Series is a line of mechanically sealed centrifugal pumps designed for chemical transfer, recirculation, and general process service. The series uses non-metallic wetted components for corrosion resistance and is available in multiple hydraulic sizes to accommodate a range of flow and head requirements.
GP pumps are offered in polypropylene or PVDF construction and can be supplied in either close-coupled or pedestal-mounted configurations. The series is intended for applications where a conventional sealed centrifugal pump is suitable and periodic seal maintenance is acceptable.
Design and Construction
The GP Series features non-metallic pump housings, covers, and wetted components designed for handling corrosive liquids. Pumps are available with externally mounted mechanical seals, allowing seal replacement without the need for specialized metallic wetted materials.
The pumps are designed to accept standard NEMA or IEC motors and are available with threaded or flanged connections depending on model. A modular design allows many components to be shared across the product line, simplifying maintenance and parts stocking.
Hydraulic Design
GP Series pumps utilize centrifugal hydraulics for fluid transfer, recirculation, and filtration duties. Depending on the model, pumps are equipped with either closed or semi-open impellers, with multiple impeller sizes available to match system requirements.
The series is suitable for handling a variety of corrosive process fluids and can accommodate liquids with higher specific gravities without requiring impeller modifications.
Materials and Sealing Options
Wetted components are available in glass-filled polypropylene or PVDF for chemical compatibility across a broad range of industrial fluids. PVDF impellers are standard throughout the series.
Mechanical seal options include bellows, multi-spring, and double seal configurations. FKM and EPDM elastomers are available, allowing the pump to be matched to specific chemical and operating requirements.
Applications
The GP Series is commonly used for chemical transfer, process circulation, plating systems, filtration loops, fume scrubbers, and other industrial chemical handling applications.
Typical pumped fluids include acids, caustics, plating solutions, cleaning chemicals, scrubber solutions, and other corrosive process liquids.
Maintenance Features
A back pull-out design allows access to the impeller and seal assembly without disconnecting process piping, simplifying routine maintenance. Externally mounted seals further improve service accessibility and reduce maintenance time.
The modular construction and component interchangeability throughout the GP Series help reduce spare parts requirements and simplify pump servicing across multiple installations.
