658 productsPWA ANSI Self Priming Process Pumps
If you’re facing a layout challenge where your pump must sit above the liquid source—or if you’re struggling with suction lines prone to air pockets—the PWA-SP Self-Priming Process Pump was engineered specifically for you.
Unlike standard pumps that require a complex setup to get moving, the PWA-SP simplifies your entire operation. Here is how this "all-in-one" solution changes the way you handle suction lift.
The Model PWA-SP is an ANSI-compliant horizontal self-priming process pump. It offers test flows up to 7,500 GPM and discharge test pressures up to 740 PSI. The supply tank is rated from full vacuum to 65 PSI. The pump operates at 460 volts with power up to 500 HP at 3600 RPM and includes a variable frequency drive for precise speed control up to 500 HP at 460 volts.
Eliminates the Need for "Add-Ons"
Traditionally, a "suction lift" application requires a graveyard of extra equipment: foot valves, vacuum primers, or external air separators. The PWA-SP makes these obsolete.
Integrated Priming Chamber: The priming mechanism is built directly into the casing. It automatically evacuates air from the suction line by mixing it with the liquid already in the pump, separating the air, and venting it out the discharge.
Plug-and-Play Simplicity: You save on both upfront costs and long-term maintenance because there are no external valves to clog or fail.
Built for Reliable "High Lift"
Whether you’re clearing a sump or drawing from a tank with fluctuating levels, the PWA-SP is built to perform where others lose their prime.
20-Foot Static Lift: Capable of pulling liquid up from depths as low as 20 feet.
Automatic Re-Priming: If the liquid level drops and the pump pulls in air, it doesn't just spin uselessly. As soon as the liquid returns, the PWA-SP automatically re-primes itself and gets back to work.
Engineered for Durability: Carbon Steel vs. Ductile Iron
Don’t settle for the industry standard when you can have superior protection. We provide high-strength, impact-resistant Carbon Steel liquid ends at no additional cost.
While many competitors use non-repairable ductile iron, our carbon steel casings and impellers are fully repairable. This not only improves pressure containment but significantly extends the service life of your equipment, reducing long-term replacement costs.
Customizable Flange Configurations
Precision-engineered to fit your existing infrastructure. Our units come standard with ANSI Class 150# flange pressure ratings, available in both Flat Face (FF) and Raised Face (RF) designs. We customize the arrangement to meet your exact specifications at no extra charge.

131 productsANSI Process Pump Liquid End Kits
PumpWorks ANSI Liquid End Kits
PumpWorks ANSI Liquid End Kits are designed as a streamlined solution for rapid pump repair and material upgrades. Instead of sourcing individual nuts, bolts, and gaskets, these kits provide a complete "wet end" assembly that allows you to restore a pump to factory specifications in a fraction of the time.
6,902 productsHere is a breakdown of what makes these kits a strategic choice for maintenance teams:
What’s Inside the Kit?
The Liquid End Kit (or "Wet End") typically includes all components that come into contact with the process fluid:
Casing: High-strength Carbon Steel (Standard) or optional alloys.
Impeller: Precision-machined for your specific performance curve.
Seal Chamber/Stuffing Box: Designed for maximum heat dissipation and seal life.
Gaskets & O-Rings: High-grade materials for leak-proof sealing.
Hardware: All necessary bolts and fasteners for assembly.
The Carbon Steel Advantage
Unlike many OEM kits that default to Ductile Iron, PumpWorks kits often feature Carbon Steel as the standard material.
Repairability: Carbon Steel can be welded and repaired, whereas Ductile Iron often must be scrapped if damaged.
Safety: Better impact resistance and pressure containment, especially in volatile petrochemical environments.
Cost: PumpWorks provides these upgraded materials at no additional cost compared to competitors' iron offerings.
Key Benefits for Maintenance Teams
Reduced Downtime: Since the components are pre-engineered to fit together, you avoid the "parts bin" hunt. You can swap the entire liquid end and get the process back online quickly.
Simplified Inventory: One part number covers the entire wet end of the pump, reducing the complexity of your warehouse stock.
Drop-In Compatibility: These kits are designed to be 100% interchangeable with other major ANSI B73.1 manufacturers (like Goulds 3196 or Durco Mark 3), allowing you to upgrade your existing pump brand to PumpWorks' Carbon Steel standard.
Performance Restoration: Replacing the entire liquid end ensures that clearances (like the impeller-to-casing gap) are reset to factory tolerances, restoring original hydraulic efficiency.
Technical Configurations
You can customize your kit based on the specific PWA series you are servicing:
PWA (Standard ANSI): For general process requirements.
PWA-LF (Low Flow): Includes the circular volute and radial impeller for stable low-flow hydraulics.
PWA-IL (In-Line): For vertical in-line configurations where space is a premium.
Impellers
PumpWorks ANSI Pump Impellers
PumpWorks ANSI impellers are the "engine" of the PWA series, designed specifically to address the weaknesses found in standard cast-iron pump components.
The standout feature of these impellers is the standard use of Carbon Steel, though they are also available in a wide array of alloys (316SS, CD4MCu, Hastelloy, etc.) to suit specific chemical or abrasive needs.
Key Design Features
Semi-Open Design: Standard PWA models use a semi-open impeller. This provides a perfect balance between efficiency and the ability to handle solids, stringy materials, and shear-sensitive liquids without clogging.
Balance Holes: Integrated holes near the impeller eye reduce axial thrust loads on the bearings. This small design detail is what allows PumpWorks to offer such an aggressive warranty—it directly extends bearing and seal life.
Back Pump-Out Vanes: Located on the rear shroud, these vanes act as a secondary "seal," pumping fluid away from the stuffing box to reduce pressure on the mechanical seal.
External Adjustability: You can adjust the impeller clearance from the outside of the pump. This allows you to "reset" the pump’s efficiency as it wears over time without a full teardown.
Specialized Impeller Types
Depending on your flow requirements, PumpWorks offers specific geometries:
Impeller Type Pump Model Best For... Standard Semi-Open PWA General chemical and industrial process fluids. Low-Flow Radial PWA-LF Stable hydraulics at very low flows; reduces vibration and vane stress. Recessed (Vortex) PWA-RC Gaseous liquids or heavy slurries where you want "no-contact" pumping. Self-Priming PWA-SP Applications where the pump must clear air from the suction line. The Material Upgrade Advantage
The biggest differentiator for PumpWorks is their Standard Material Policy:
The Carbon Steel Standard: While most manufacturers charge extra to move away from brittle Ductile Iron, PumpWorks provides ASTM A216 Carbon Steel as the base material.
Repairability: Unlike iron, if a carbon steel impeller is slightly eroded, it can be welded and re-machined.
Durability: It offers 30% higher thermal conductivity than cast iron, which helps dissipate heat and protect your bearings.
100% Interchangeability
If you are currently running a Goulds 3196 or Durco Mark 3, a PumpWorks impeller is a "drop-in" replacement. This allows you to upgrade your existing pumps to Carbon Steel components one piece at a time during normal maintenance cycles.
681 productsShafts & Sleeves
PumpWorks ANSI Pump Shafts & Sleeves
In the world of ANSI pumps, the shaft and sleeve assembly is often the "Achilles' heel." If the shaft flexes too much or the sleeve corrodes, your mechanical seal will fail prematurely. PumpWorks addresses this by offering higher-grade materials as a standard and engineering for maximum stiffness.
The PumpWorks Shaft Advantage
The biggest differentiator for PumpWorks is their Standard Material Policy. While many manufacturers use 4140 carbon steel (which is strong but prone to rust and corrosion), PumpWorks has standardized on:
Standard Material:316L Stainless Steel. This provides superior corrosion resistance across a much wider range of process fluids at no additional cost.
Optional High-Alloy Materials: For extreme environments, shafts are available in Alloy 20, Hastelloy, and Duplex Stainless Steels.
Precision Finish: Every shaft is machined to a surface finish of 16 RMS or better in the seal area to ensure the mechanical seal or sleeve has a perfect seat.
Shaft Design & Reliability
PumpWorks engineers their shafts to minimize Shaft Deflection—the leading cause of seal failure.
Stiffness: The shafts are designed with a heavy-duty diameter to ensure that deflection at the seal face is less than 0.002 inches during operation.
Flinger Disk Lubrication: Unlike "flood oil" designs, PumpWorks uses a proven flinger disk. This ensures that even at low speeds, oil is effectively splashed onto the bearings, reducing operating temperatures by a minimum of 22°F and extending the life of the shaft and bearing assembly.
PumpWorks Shaft Sleeves
The sleeve is designed to be the "sacrificial" part of the assembly. It protects the expensive shaft from wear and chemical attack.
Hook-Type Design: PumpWorks uses a "hook-style" sleeve that is easy to remove and replace without specialized tools.
Materials: Standard sleeves are 316 Stainless Steel, but they are also available with specialized coatings like Stellite or Chrome Oxide for abrasive slurries where standard steel would be "washed out."
Sealing: A PTFE (Teflon) or Viton O-ring prevents the process fluid from leaking between the shaft and the sleeve.
When to Replace Shafts & Sleeves
Maintenance teams should inspect these components during every seal change.
Component Replace If... Shaft Visible run-out exceeds 0.002"; there is deep pitting/corrosion behind the sleeve; or the keyway is "rolled" or damaged. Sleeve There are visible grooves or "tracking" where the seal sat; deep scratches (even if they look minor); or if the O-ring groove is pitted. Cross-Compatibility
Just like their cases and impellers, PumpWorks shafts and sleeves are 100% interchangeable with:
Goulds 3196 (STX, MTX, LTX, XLT sizes)
Durco Mark 3
Summit 2196
This means you can upgrade your existing Goulds or Durco pumps with a 316L Stainless Steel PumpWorks shaft during your next rebuild to prevent future corrosion issues.
Why buy a Power End Kit instead?
While you can buy just the shaft and sleeve, many owners choose the PumpWorks Power End Kit.
Why? Because it comes with the shaft pre-installed in a Carbon Steel bearing housing with new bearings and a 5-year unconditional warranty. It’s the fastest way to "zero-time" a pump.
Would you like to find the specific shaft dimensions for a specific frame size (e.g., MTX or LTX)?
102 productsCases
PumpWorks ANSI Pump Cases
PumpWorks ANSI pump cases (casings) are the heavy-duty pressure vessels of the PWA and PWA-IL series. They are designed not only to house the impeller but to withstand the rigorous stresses of chemical process industries (CPI).
While most manufacturers treat the casing as a basic cast component, PumpWorks treats it as a high-precision engineered part with several standard upgrades.
Material Superiority: The Carbon Steel Standard
The most significant differentiator is the use of ASTM A216 Grade WCB Carbon Steel as the standard material.
Impact Resistance: Unlike Ductile Iron, which can be brittle and prone to cracking under thermal shock or physical impact, Carbon Steel is much more resilient.
Weld-Repairable: If a Carbon Steel case suffers internal wear or minor pitting, it can be welded and re-machined. Ductile Iron is generally considered non-repairable; once it's worn, it's scrap.
Freezing Protection: Carbon Steel is significantly more resistant to rupture if priming fluid is accidentally left in the pump during freezing temperatures.
Specialized Case Designs
PumpWorks offers different casing geometries depending on the specific application needs:
Standard Volute (PWA): A standard high-efficiency spiral casing designed for general process applications.
Circular Volute (PWA-LF): Used in the Low Flow series. The circular design, combined with a precisely machined discharge channel, provides stable hydraulics and minimizes vibration when running at low flow rates.
In-Line Case (PWA-IL): Designed to be installed directly into a pipeline like a valve. This case features a centerline discharge for simplified piping and a smaller footprint.
Self-Priming Case (PWA-SP): Includes a large priming chamber that allows the pump to clear air from the suction line without external valves or air separators.
Key Engineering Features
Class 150# & 300# Options: Standard cases come with ANSI Class 150# flange ratings. However, PumpWorks offers Class 300# (375 PSI MAWP) options in both Flat Face (FF) and Raised Face (RF) designs—often at no additional cost.
Back Pull-Out Design: The case is designed so that the entire "power end" (shaft, bearings, and impeller) can be removed for maintenance without disconnecting the casing from the piping.
Centerline Discharge: This design makes the pump "self-venting," preventing air binding and simplifying the piping layout.
Precision Machining: Every case is machined to strict ANSI B73.1 or B73.2 standards, ensuring 100% interchangeability with existing Goulds or Durco installations.
When to Replace the Casing
The casing is the most expensive "wet end" part, so it is usually the last thing to be replaced. You should consider a new casing if:
Wall Thinning: The interior wall has worn down by more than 25% of its original thickness due to erosion or corrosion.
Unrepairable Pitting: Pitting is so deep that a weld repair would compromise the pressure rating.
Flange Damage: The flange faces are warped or scarred deeply enough that they can no longer maintain a seal.
Cracks: Any visible crack in a pressure-retaining vessel is an immediate "fail" and requires replacement.
Would you like me to find the specific dimensional drawings for a certain case size, or help you compare the Class 150 vs Class 300 pressure ratings?
8,234 productsCover Kits
PumpWorks ANSI Pump Cover Kits
PumpWorks ANSI Pump Cover Kits (also known as Seal Chamber or Backplate Kits) are critical "bridge" components that sit between the pump casing and the power frame. Their primary job is to house the mechanical seal and provide the necessary environment for it to survive.
Just like their casings and impellers, PumpWorks has engineered these kits to be high-performance upgrades that fit both their own pumps and other major brands.
Seal Chamber (Bore) Options
The "Cover" is where you choose your sealing strategy. PumpWorks kits are available in three distinct bore configurations:
Standard Bore: Best for traditional component seals or packing. It’s narrow, which is good for some simple applications but can trap heat.
Tapered Bore: Features a 4-degree taper that uses centrifugal force to pull solids and air bubbles away from the seal faces. It significantly improves cooling and is the industry standard for most chemical processes.
Big Bore (Large Bore): Provides the most internal space around the seal. This allows for better heat dissipation, accommodates larger dual-cartridge seals, and supports various CPI seal flush plans (like Plan 11 or Plan 32).
Material & Construction
Standardization on high-quality materials is a PumpWorks hallmark:
Carbon Steel (ASTM A216 WCB): Provided as the standard material, offering better impact resistance and repairability than the ductile iron used by competitors.
316L Stainless Steel: Also available as a standard option for corrosive services.
Optional Alloys: Available in CD4MCu, Alloy 20, Hastelloy, and Titanium for extreme chemical environments.
Jacketed Options: For high-temperature or high-viscosity fluids, covers can be "jacketed" to allow for heating or cooling liquid to circulate behind the seal chamber.
What is Included in a "Kit"?
A PumpWorks Cover Kit is designed for a complete "drop-in" refresh. It typically includes:
The Cover (Backplate): Machined to your specific bore (Standard, Tapered, or Big Bore).
Gaskets: High-quality, fully confined casing gaskets to ensure a leak-proof fit.
Studs and Nuts: All necessary corrosion-resistant hardware to secure the cover to the casing and frame adapter.
Seal Gland Hardware: If applicable, the studs required to mount your mechanical seal gland.
Cross-Compatibility & Interchangability
This is a major selling point for maintenance managers. You can use a PumpWorks Cover Kit as a direct replacement for:
Goulds 3196 (Group 1, 2, or 3)
Durco Mark 3
Summit 2196
Why swap to PumpWorks? Many owners switch to PumpWorks covers during a seal failure because they can move from a "Standard Bore" to a "Tapered Bore" or "Big Bore" without replacing the entire pump. This single change can often double or triple the life of your mechanical seals.
When to Replace the Cover?
The cover should be inspected during every mechanical seal change. Replace it if:
The "Seal Seat" is Scored: If the area where the seal gland sits is pitted or scratched, you will never get a perfect seal.
Erosion in the Bore: If the internal bore shows signs of "wash-out" or thinning, the hydraulic flow around the seal will be disrupted, leading to heat buildup.
Warping: If the cover has been over-torqued or exposed to extreme heat, it may no longer sit flat against the casing, causing chronic gasket leaks.
Would you like me to help you determine which bore type (Standard, Tapered, or Big Bore) is best for your specific liquid and seal type?
